The Unrelenting Pursuit of Excellence

Here you are, faced with another year and another opportunity to do something courageous with your life. The last few years have been tough, there is no doubt about it, but like all high performers and as warriors battling through life we must adapt and overcome. 

2022 is the year all of your excuses are going out the door and you're going to get back on the warpath. 

During my time as a Commando we all subscribed to a set of tenets, a set of principles that guided the way we lived, trained and fought. 

The one that always stuck out to me was the unrelenting pursuit of excellence. 

The word unrelenting means to not yield in strength, severity, and determination. 

The word excellence means to be outstanding or extremely good. 

When we live the unrelenting pursuit of excellence we are pursuing with all our strength and determination the desire to be the absolute best we can possibly be in our chosen pursuit. 

There is no dabbling or giving something a go, it is an outright mission to be the best. It is a mindset, it is a way of life, it is unique, it is bold and it is courageous.

When you subscribe to the pursuit of excellence you are putting your flag in the ground, you're making a bold statement to the world, you are choosing to walk the path less travelled. 

Whilst everyone else is drifting through life, you are choosing to go on the attack. 

A statement I always make as a reminder to both you and me is "the pursuit of excellence isn't a moment in time, it is a life long journey". This is an important mindset to adopt. Think about elite level sports stars or elite level SF and SOF operators who were once at the pinnacle of their game, now, they're overweight, unmotivated and living on the victory's of yesterday. 

No matter what you've done in the past, if you've succeeded greatly or if you've failed greatly, tomorrow is a new opportunity to either go bigger and bolder or an opportunity to dust yourself off and go again. 

I have failed many times in my life, without risk there is no reward right? Well, here I am, still pursing excellence, and daring to be the best in the world at what I do. 

One last thing before I close this out. 

This pursuit is yours and yours alone. 

There is no need for external validation and comparison. 

All that is required is unwavering self belief and laser focus on what YOU'RE doing. 

This journey is yours. 

This is your warning order. It's time to go. 

Lets get it.
